THE DANISH DESIGN COUNCIL'S ID PRIZE 1980 — NIELS GAMMELGAARD DESIGN

The Danish Design Award is an annual international design prize awarded by the member organization Design denmark and Danish Design Center in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Acknowledging the best in Danish design with an annual award began in 1965. At that time, the award was called the ID Prize. Danish design had become an important concept, not just in Scandinavia, but worldwide. Danish design represented - and continues to represent - simple, pure and aesthetic design with a clear user focus.

The RABO series is full of quality, imagination and joy.

RABO Play equipment on wheels The RABO tricycles and the other toys in the series have resumed a tradition of quality from the time when toys could be passed down through several generations and in that way help to give children an elementary sense of quality and good function in our everyday tools.

The contractor's yellow color brings to mind solid, all-terrain equipment, and the play equipment lives up to this signaling effect by not compromising on the design details.

The tricycle's frame, which is made of tubes in a continuous process, is in itself a pedagogical illustration of a constructive principle. Despite a complex function, we have succeeded in giving the frame an elementary design which must appeal to children.
